Impact & Outcomes

The need is real. So is the plan.

Funders want evidence, not adjectives. Here is the Fresno need we address, how our programs are designed to create change, and the outcomes we are measuring against.

The need in Fresno

Behind every number is a woman, a mother, a daughter or a sister. These are the conditions our work responds to.

4,305
people experiencing homelessness in Fresno County, 2,758 of them unsheltered
Fresno-Madera Continuum of Care
64%
of community members surveyed cite a major need for temporary housing and support services
Fresno EOC Community Needs Assessment
8,748
domestic violence reports in a single reporting period, a leading pathway to homelessness for women
Fresno EOC / county data
8.2%
Fresno unemployment, nearly double the statewide rate of 5.1%
California EDD

More than 5,000 children under age six in Fresno County are unhoused or living in doubled-up housing, and only 23% of children in working families have access to childcare, leaving many mothers unable to work or advance. link each statistic to its source report before publishing

Our theory of change

How what we do connects to the change we are working toward.

Who we serve

Women in Fresno facing housing instability, many leaving crisis or domestic violence.

What we do

Housing support, career readiness, mentorship, education and wellness, with milestone-based participant stipends.

What changes

Safe housing, employment and income, confidence and life skills, and a stronger support network.

Short-term outcomes

Women housed, enrolled in training, and connected to wraparound services.

Long-term outcomes

Housing retained at 6 and 12 months, sustained employment, and growing independence.

Lasting impact

Women and children thriving, and a more equitable Fresno.

What we measure

We are establishing a baseline with our first cohort and will report results here as they come in. The targets below are drafts for the program team and board to confirm.

Measuring
Women served
results reported as cohort progresses
Measuring
Housed and retained at 6 months
target to confirm
Measuring
Employed or in training
target to confirm
We deliberately do not publish outcome numbers we have not measured yet. As the first cohort reaches its milestones, JMC will help turn verified data into the metrics funders look for: women served, percent housed at 6 and 12 months, and percent employed.

Participant stories

The most powerful evidence is a woman's own words. We will share stories here only with written consent, named or anonymized as each participant chooses.
